System Administrator

Job Description

The System Administrator is responsible for support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT-related services, components, and peripherals. Agate Software leverages most Microsoft technologies and is a Microsoft Gold-Certified partner. To best service our customers, we maintain a combination of Azure US Government Cloud resources and on-premise resources. Our staff is comprised of remote, hybrid, and on-site team members. Agate Software has locations in Okemos, MI, Glendale, AZ, and San Juan, PR, with occasional travel required to each location.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • SQL Database Administration
    • Take and Restore Back-ups
    • SQL Agent Job Management
    • Database Maintenance
    • Nightly back-up monitoring
    • Storage Management
    • Query request fulfillment
    • Code Promotion (pushes); including documentation of all pushes and history of all scripts applied
    • Web Application (Internet Information Services) Administration
  • IT Requests
    • Set-up of new environments
    • Software installations
    • Production Website Deployments
  • Responsible for system availability and disaster recovery
    • Web/SQL Database Server Uptime and Availability
    • Disaster Recovery Response and Triage
    • Performance Related Concerns or Incidents (i.e., Windows or SQL Server)
  • Server Security Software Administration
    • Deployment of software to new servers/workstations
  • Networking
    • Virtual Network Administration
    • DNS, DHCP Administration
    • Active Directory Administration
  • Terminated employee removal (account expiration, access review and removal, file back-ups)
  • Maintain individual workstations
  • Internal customer service role as it pertains to Information Technology for Agate team members
  • New employee credentialing (user accounts, license assignment, mailbox migrations)
  • Licensing Audit/Reviews
  • Vendor Management
  • Back-up to Network Security Administrator

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree required
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer related field preferred
  • 3-8 years progressive experience with Information Technology duties and responsibilities
  • 3-5 years’ experience with SQL Database administration
  • 2+ years’ experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud-computing platform preferred
